2022 LPN of the Year, Florida Health Care Association
Join us in recognizing the 2022 Florida Health Care Association Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year, our very own Roxy Acosta.
Roxy joined our family over 14 years ago and is Director of Quality Assurance at the beautiful Palm Garden of Ocala. She’s worn many hats over her 40-year career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Charge nurse, wound-care specialist nurse, and admissions nurse just to name a few. Her current role is Director of Quality Assurance. She’s perfect for it! Roxy’s dedication to clinical excellence and world-class service made her a leader long before she held the title, but Roxy’s dedication to our guests, residents, and team members is what sets her apart. Roxy is known by everyone as a caregiver who goes the extra mile to ensure that every resident at Palm Garden feels loved as family.
“Roxy gives 110% of herself to everyone every day. She will never disappoint you and will always try to help. She has been there, done that, and is not afraid to tell you how something should be done in a way that is uniquely Roxy’s.” said Waylene Close, Director of Clinical Services at Palm Garden. “We nominated her for this prestigious award because Palm Garden caregivers see Roxy as a resource. First to answer a question, offer support, and even a hug. She is an advocate and friend to all. Roxy is what every young nurse should aspire to be.
We could spend all day talking about Roxy as the Florida Florida Health Care Association Nurse of the Year, but it’s more important to talk about Roxy, the person. She exemplifies what it means to be a nurse. Her open-door policy and servant leadership, her refusal to disappoint anyone- ever, and her love for our guests, residents, and caregivers are an example to the world.
“Florida Health Care Association is proud to recognize Roxy for her outstanding service to the residents entrusted to her care,” said Emmett Reed, Chief Executive Officer of Florida Health Care Association. “She is a role model, and the passion and commitment to excellence she demonstrates are what helps Florida lead the way in quality post-acute care and rehabilitation.”
Congratulations, Roxy, and thank you for your clinical excellence and world-class service. You are Palm Garden!
